After the recent passing of Steve Gulley, artist and songwriter, Mark Wheeler was inspired to craft a song in tribute to his dear friend. “In The Resurrection Morning” was recorded at Sound Biscuit Studio in Sevierville, TN with Dave Maggard and Jim VanCleve engineering. VanCleve co-produced with Barry Abernathy.
“We were all focused on the theme of hope in Christ,” Abernathy says. “Steve was a man of faith, and we join him in the belief that we will all see each other again one day in a far better place, where Jesus will be the light, and be our God forever. What a great reunion morning that will be. Mark’s beautiful song captures this hope like a precious prayer.”
The inspiring song features top artists; friends and collaborators of Steve Gulley. Calling themselves Sacred Reunion for this song release, all of these artists eagerly accepted the invitation to participate in a tribute project. The vocal and instrumental talents of Mark Wheeler (Marksmen), Barry Abernathy and Jim Van Cleve (Appalachian Road Show), Tim Stafford (Blue Highway), Vince Gill (whose vocal was overdubbed at Bushwood Studio and engineered by Matt Rausch), Doyle Lawson (Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver), Jason Moore (Sideline) and Phil Ledbetter (All-Stars of Bluegrass) are all lovingly shared on “In The Resurrection Morning.”
The song is being released to radio and distributed by Billy Blue Records. It will be available wherever fine music is sold or streamed.
The song was mixed and mastered at Dawn Place Studios in Gallatin, TN by Jim VanCleve. Wheeler chose to publish under Gulley’s own publishing entity, Gulley’s Curve Music (BMI), with all proceeds for the benefit the Gulley family.
An award-winning guitarist, songwriter and vocalist, Steve Gulley passed away on August 18, 2020, just weeks being diagnosed with cancer. Gulley’s career credits are impressive, but he remains most highly regarded as a family man and trusted friend to so many. He is survived by wife Debbie, son Brad and daughters Lyndsey Hunley, Alyson Robinson, Kim Beers and Amber Doss, as well as by 10 grandchildren, his parents Don and Linda Gulley, sister Kristi Laws and his beloved dog, Rip.
